A man is expected in court Friday, accused of fatally stabbing a man near railroad tracks last July in Avondale, Chicago police said.
Tomas Velasquez-Argueta, 48, was arrested Wednesday in the 1300 block of Madison Street in Evanston and charged with first degree murder, Chicago police said.
Velasquez-Argueta allegedly fatally stabbed Juan Carlos Jaramillo July 8, 2025 in the 3400 block of North Kimball Avenue, police said.
Jaramillo was found around 1:50 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. An autopsy determined he died of multiple sharp force injuries and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Velasquez-Argueta was expected to appear in court Friday for a detention hearing.
