SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- San Francisco families gathered along the coast in the city's Outer Sunset neighborhood today for The Great Hauntway, a beachside community Halloween event. KRON4's Lindsey Ford reported on the festivities, which took place at Sunset Dunes.

The event was designed to bring neighborhood residents together for an afternoon of Halloween activities close to home.

Attendees enjoyed candy stations, bounce houses, costumes and live music throughout the afternoon.

Young attendees enjoyed the trick-or-treating opportunities available throughout the afternoon. Ellie Earlyking, a trick-or-treater who dressed up as her favorite drink, boba tea, shared her enthusiasm for the treats.

“Yeah, like getting more candy,” Earlyking said. She noted that her favorite flavors include “strawberry boba, mango, blue raspberry and kiwi.”

Other children opted for scarier costumes as they explored the festivities. Sierra, a trick-or-treater attending the event, expressed her excitement about collecting candy. “I like getting the candy and stuff,” Sierra said.

She previously wore less frightening costumes in prior years before deciding on a vampire outfit.

“I've been Rapunzel and a witch last year but it was a sequin witch, so it wasn't too scary, but this year I really wanted to be a vampire because I want to be even more scary,” Sierra said.

Families also participated in the celebration together. Amanda Natov attended trick-or-treating with her daughter, Addison Natov, who dressed up as a character from the show Super Kitties.

“Super Kitties they're a gang of cats that turn into superheroes when there is crime occurs…. 'And there's four of them',” Natov said.

The event concluded with attendees offering seasonal greetings to their neighbors. “Happy Halloween!” Sierra said. Mother and daughter Amanda and Addison Natov added, “Happy Halloween! Happy Halloween you guys.”
