Federal prosecutors in Chicago have accused 33 known defendants of nonimmigration crimes tied to Operation Midway Blitz. Many were accused of assaulting or resisting federal agents or officers.
Two defendants have pleaded guilty. Twenty-seven have been cleared. Grand jurors refused to indict at least three of the 27, and another member of that group was found not guilty at trial.
Three of the 27 saw their charges dropped through a deferred-prosecution agreement. Under the terms of such a deal, prosecutors agree to drop charges if a defendant abides by certain terms over a set period of time. Six Midway Blitz defendants struck such a deal, and three are still pending.
